Martin Kpebu, a private attorney, advocates for the publication of assets declared by public officials, as was the case during the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) era, when officials' asset declarations were made public.

According to him, this will go a long way towards combating corruption among public officials.

Mr. Kpebu stated on News 360, in reference to former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resource Cecilia Abena Dapaah's decision to retain large amounts of dollars at home, "every serious anti-corruption crusader supports this point. Even during the PNDC era, they published these assets, revealing which PNDC appointees published these assets.

Edem Senanu, Co-Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption, advocated for the ratification of the bill on the Conduct of Public Officers as part of efforts to hold public officials accountable.

He stated that all individuals concerned with protecting the public purse must be interested in passing the measure.

Mr. Senanau also stated on News 360, "This highlights the importance of passing the Conduct of public officers code bill. We must all demand that this bill, which has been pending before the cabinet, be passed immediately."

Abena Dapaah tendered her resignation on Saturday, July 22, less than twenty-four hours after the public revelation of her theft.

Accepting her resignation, President Akufo-Addo praised the former Bantama representative's "excellent and productive" performance.

"It is with great regret that I accept your resignation, and I commend your dedication to the reputation and image of the government," he wrote in a letter dated Saturday.

"The work you performed during your time in government was excellent and fruitful, and I appreciate your unwavering commitment to the advancement of the government and the nation."

In her resignation letter, Madam Abena Dapaah assured all state agencies of her availability and cooperation to investigate her case, which she admits has become a "hindrance" to the government at this "crucial" time.

In her resignation letter, she added, "I have no doubt that at the conclusion of the processes it will be determined that I conducted myself with integrity during my time in public service and that I will be fully exonerated of all the allegations."

In addition, President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that "in the end, your integrity while in office will be fully established."

The theft of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of unspecified Ghana Cedis has been brought before the court. The recall is scheduled for Wednesday, August 2.
