Government has allocated GH55 million to the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) for the administration of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) this year.
"I can confirm that we have received sufficient funds to administer both the WASSCE and BECE examinations.
We have received GH40 million to conduct WASSCE and GH10.5 million to conduct BECE.
We've received a total of GH55 million, and I can confirm that the money has been received."
"The payment is for this year's exams; we're expected to expend approximately 18 million Ghana cedis for BECE.
This follows claims by the Minority that the 2023 WASSCE and BECE may not be administered due to the government's failure to fulfil its financial obligations to WAEC.
"I wish to emphasise that all arrangements are in place for BECE to begin on August 7; nothing has changed."
