Akufo-Addo, the president, paid tribute to the late Enoch Teye Mensah.

During the farewell ceremony conducted in the State House forecourt, the President paid respect to the memories of the former member of the Council of State, describing E.T. Mensah as a good friend.

He was a kind, giving, outgoing man with an excellent sense of humor and a sharp mind. There was no greater company in his environment, and as President of the Republic, he was a valuable source of advise. President Akufo Addo wrote, "Ghana has lost a worthy patriot, and I have lost a good friend."

The passing of a long-time friend triggers a wide range of feelings, including grief, a sense of loss, sadness, reflections on friendship, memories of a generation, the sharp reality of mortality, hope for eternity, and the presence of the Living God, in his words. When I think about the tragic death of Enoch Teye Mensah, I am completely filled with these emotions.

He went on, saying, "I first entered Parliament with E.T., as he was lovingly called by everyone, on different sides of the House in January 1997." Despite this, we remained close friends all the way to the end. Holding multiple portfolios in multiple PNDC/NDC Governments led to his notoriety for his involvement with Ghanaian sports, especially the growth of Ghana football. He tirelessly represented the people of Ningo-Prampram in Parliament for five (5) terms in a row before being elected to the esteemed post of Member of the Council of State in 2021, during my second term as President. "My wife, Rebecca, the First Lady, a Ningo native, and I extend our deepest condolences to his widow, Loriet, his children, his family, the National Democratic Congress, the Chiefs and people of Ningo-Prampram, the Council of State, and the people of Ghana on this sad loss," the President said in his prayer for E.T. Mensah's soul to rest. I pray that the Almighty would grant him a serene resting place in His arms until our reunion on the Last Day of the Resurrection. Indeed!
