Former President John Dramani Mahama has come under fire from NPP Communications Director Richard Ahiagbah for his critique of the state of the economy.

He added that Dr. Mahamamudu Bawumia was unfairly criticized by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the current economic unrest.

Dr. Bawumia cannot be characterized in the same way as Mr. Mahama since he is not the president, according to Ahiagbah.

The New Year's message from former President Mahama was pathetic, uninspired, and unpersuasive. He was unable to discern between the President's and Vice President's roles, or he refused to. Saying that Bawumia's economic mismanagement exists is factually incorrect. It is not Bawumia who is President. The assertion that this economy has been poorly handled is the other falsehood.

"That point of view is a distortion of the truth. John Mahama needs to be honest with the people of Ghana regarding the source or causes of the current economic challenges. The truth is that the severe effects of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War are causing the world economy to struggle.

The past president should not have ignored these realities because part of the answer is realizing the issue. X wrote, "Maybe it's time to hang it up, Sir." Mr. Ahiagbah.

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

In his speech, the nominee for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming presidential election mentioned, among other things, how enthusiastic he is about fighting corruption and removing bad leadership to guarantee that the nation's resources are handled "responsibly and ethically."

"I truly think that fostering trust and confidence in our institutions requires an accountable and open government. In a January 3 New Year's message, he declared, "We will hold accountable, members of this administration who have abused the public trust by misconducting themselves in office."

The former President promised to reduce the size of the government to cut down on expenditure.
