Ghanaians already fighting an economic war because of your mess, don’t send our soldiers to fight an unjustified war in Niger – MP to Prez

Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has advised President Akufo-Addo not to allow the deployment of soldiers to Niger.

The lawmaker urged the President not to waste state resources by sending Ghanaian soldiers to Niger.

He stated that the president should not lead us into an unwarranted ECOWAS war in Niger.

According to him, Ghanaians are currently facing an economic war created by the president and his administration, thus we are not prepared for another conflict.

Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul this week rallied military heads in the West African sub-region to ready their forces to invade Niger to restore democratic rule.

He expressed Ghana’s preparedness towards this move when he joined other security heads from other ECOWAS countries in Accra to deliberate on the Niger crisis.

He said the days when coups enjoyed popular support in the sub-region were over.

He said the two-day meeting of ECOWAS Defence Chiefs in Accra was to help them put their “rich experiences together to be able to activate the ECOWAS standby force” to enable them “respond adequately and swiftly” to the task of returning deposed president Mohamed Bazoum and his government to power.

Dr. Apaak in a tweet said the current administration has already dissipated our resources and has forced Ghanaians to bear the economic turmoil.

He added that Ghanaians are not in support of the military intervention and the president must be guided by that.

“NADAA shouldn’t take us to an unjustified ECOWAS war in Niger. He shouldn’t endanger our soldiers and dissipate resources at a time he and his NPP have decimated our economy. We are already fighting [a war] for survival in Ghana. We say no to military intervention in Niger.”
