Dr Mahamudu Bawumia with Alan John Kyerematen

Independent candidate Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for his criticism of John Mahama's idea for a 24-hour economy.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer Mr. Mahama's proposal was poorly considered.

On December 2, however, Mr. Kyerematen addressed members of his Movement for Change and claimed that those who opposed the strategy were ignorant of politics.

"If elected, former President John Mahama has stated he will establish a 24-hour economy." If he asserts that he is correct. He said, "Anyone who criticizes the 24-hour does not understand politics."

He did, however, query whether the program would be feasible given Ghana's current economic situation.

He said, "What can John Mahama do to ensure that the economy can run for 24 hours is the question we should be asking him."

According to some economists, the 24-hour economy is a smart idea that, with the appropriate implementation, might alter Ghana's economic dynamics.
