Ken Ofori-Atta

The daughter of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and Member of Parliament for Some Kwabenya Hon. Sarah Adjoa Safo has benefitted from the GETFUND Scholarship.

In a viral sheet dubbed “Members of Parliament, politicians, media practitioners, lecturers, heads of institutions and associates awards scholarships,” names of personalities have been listed as beneficiaries of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND).

According to the list, the name of the Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adjoa Safo, and the daughter of Ken Ofori-Atta (Finance Minister), Nana Obrempomgmaa Ofori-Atta have been identified as beneficiaries of GETFUND.

Number 76 on the list is the daughter of the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta daughter by name Nana Obrempomgmaa Ofori-Atta.

The list made it clear that GETFUND funds her undergraduate education at Georgetown University at a whopping USD52,600.00 (the highest government funding on the list).

The 88th name on the list is Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo. She got funding from GETFUND to further her education which amounts to USD 17,004.00 (tuition).

It has come to the notice of the entire Ghanaian populace that the funds made available to cater for impoverished Ghanaians in their education have been hijacked by politicians who are wealthy and can sponsor their education.

Personalities who are well-to-do, politicians are benefiting from the GETFUND which is originally meant for needy but brilliant students to further their education forgetting that the ordinary Ghanaian child deserves that opportunity.

Efficient mechanisms must be employed to scrutinize the actions of Ghanaian politicians.
