It seems that the New Patriotic Party is still reeling from the shock of Alan Kyerematen’s withdrawal and resignation.

The rank and file of the party have been expressing their opinion on the issue with the General Secretary responding to some assertions and allegations made by the former Trades and Industry Minister against the Party.

In a phone interview on Okay FM on September 29, 2023, the Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament and Member of Parliament for the People of Suame in the Ashanti Region, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has expressed strong wishes that, if Alan Kyerematen reverses his resignation decision, it will be of great good to him personally and the Elephant party.

The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs affirmed during the interview that, after Alan withdrew from the Flagbearer contest, the party through its Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim embarked on the “Lost Sheep” Parable as told by Christ, to go have a pep talk with him with hopes that all was well. He expressed shock with the news of Alan’s official resignation and announcement of Presidential race intent under his Movement for Change Party.

Mr. Kyei Mensah Bonsu reiterated that, if Alan decides to still stay off the NPP and contests as an independent candidate he will repeat the histories of Wereko Brobbey, Dr. Obed Asamoah and Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings who all broke out from their Political Parties to form their own parties and never saw success.

He charged all party executives to keep an open arm and be optimistic of Alan’s return if all talks with him go well.

He mentioned that the party is poised to make history by retaining power and continuing to serve the country for a third consecutive term.

He also stated that, at this crucial moment, unity is all the NPP needs to focus on their mandate of breaking the eight and serving Ghanaians duly.
