The leader of the majority in the parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, believes that the New Patriotic Party will face difficulties if it does not heal its internal wounds. He thinks that they need to reach out to Alan Kyerematen, who has expressed his resentment and quit the party, and bring him back to their side.
He said in an interview with TV3 that will be aired soon: "The party's core needs to unite and take immediate steps to fix and restore ourselves. That is why I always say that we need to still talk to Kyerematen, who has announced his resignation.
"...It is not too late, we can and should fix ourselves. If we don't, then we can forget about the elections. Because the NPP cannot win any elections easily, since our base support is around 46-47%.
We need the support of undecided voters to join us, so if we can't fix ourselves, unite and make our party appealing, we won't be able to attract undecided voters to cross the 50+1 threshold to win power. That is why we have no choice but to do a serious self-examination and fix ourselves, renew ourselves and attract undecided voters."
