Renowned cardiothoracic surgeon and politician, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng has written an open letter to the person who will succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo as President, detailing how other countries have been able to rally their people and fashioned out ways to develop their countries and wondering if the person will succeed in getting Ghanaians to set their minds to nation-building and get the country to join the league of developed nations.

Prof Frimpong Boateng, who is widely respected for his stellar leadership both in the medical field and in politics, bemoaned Ghana’s poor performance economically after the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah, the country’s first leader.

Prof Frimpong Boateng noted that the next leader has a Herculean task far weightier than the task given to Ghana during its independence in 1957.

For the country to develop, he pointed out, there will be the need for a leader who has the zeal, commitment, and conviction to fight against his or her own weaknesses as well as the challenges that confront the nation.

Prof Frimpong Boateng advised that Ghana’s new leader can learn from best practices in good governance from places such as Singapore, Korea and China.

He asserted that the country, since Nkrumah has not had a leader that is willing to sacrifice for the wholesome development of the country.
