The Special Prosecutor's Office was set up specifically to pursue the appointees of Mahama. - Joyce Bawa

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has come under fire from Special Aide to Former President John Dramani Mahama, who claims that the appointment of Martin Amidu and the creation of the Special Prosecutor's Office were motivated by a vendetta against National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees rather than a desire to combat corruption.

Madam Bawah Mogtari observes that when the administration and Martin Amidu became entangled in their own scheme, the office's malign intentions burst in their faces.

The former president's relative thinks that the OSP's lack of results is evidence to support her claim that the current president established the office with the intention of finding NDC members, but that goal has failed miserably.

"President Akufo-Addo had no intention of fighting corruption when he swore in the first Special Prosecutor; it was primarily a vendetta because they had so severely demonized the previous government that they were certain that if they established this office, they would be able to prosecute some of their appointees. They began to expose and humiliate them, but in the process, they neglected that they were chasing a neighbor's fire, as their backyard was also on fire.

"So they began fighting with their own system when they finally realized that corruption had taken over them and they could no longer use the Anas Principle," she made fun of.

Madam Mogtari points out that the government is not favored by any corruption index and finds it extremely difficult to bring up the topic.

The perception of corruption index is significantly worse. The state of poverty is getting worse, and there has been little media freedom. This government has lost it and performed worse, therefore they cannot discuss the battle against corruption, she lamented.
