The multi-award winning musician from Ghana, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., better known by his stage name Shatta Wale, has deleted his X profile.
The Shatta Movement leader made the unexpected move in the wee hours of Wednesday, December 27, 2023, and joyfully announced on Facebook that he was finally done with X.
In a video he posted online following his conduct, Shatta Wale stated that he believed the majority of X users lacked sufficient common sense.
The popular song "On God" pointed out that the majority of these users are concerned with agendas that don't really contribute anything worthwhile to the Ghanaian entertainment sector.
The final reason, he added, for him to deactivate his account—which currently has over 3.5 million followers—was the pointless calls made by some Ghanaian X users, who identify as prominent voices on the app, urging Nigerians to post on their accounts and wish Afua Asantewaa luck in her current singathon. He cited this as the reason why some Ghanaians did the same when Hilda Baci was doing her cookathon.
Speaking angrily in a dimly lit room, Shatt Wale emphasized that he felt it was time to leave the X platform because the calls were pointless.
