13 Foreigners Are Arrested For Explosives Manufacturing

Some of the foreign nationals detained

Daily Guide has learned that thirteen foreign nationals illegally producing explosives in Tarkwa, Western Region, have been apprehended.

According to sources, the foreign nationals were apprehended during an operation conducted by the Ghana Armed Forces in the mining town.

Eight Chinese, three Togolese, a Nigerian, and an Ivorian are among the suspects.

DAILY GUIDE has learned that Tarkwa residents have been complaining about the illegal activities of expatriates for some time.

They believe the foreigners' activities could pose a hazard and have demanded immediate intervention.

The operation's objective was to put a stop to the unlawful activities of foreign nationals producing explosives, including dynamite, in some mining communities in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem region.

More than 20,000 pieces of explosives and 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate concealed in rice and flour bags were discovered during the operation.

A source indicated that the operation was based on detailed intelligence aimed at halting the production, sale, and use of illicit dynamite in certain parts of the country, particularly mining regions.

In addition, it was revealed that the suspects had been vetted and transferred to Accra's National Security for further investigation.
