The actress Yvonne Nelson revealed in her autobiography "I Am Not Yvonne Nelson" that her mother informed her that her biological father was the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Peter Ala Adjetey.

Peter Ala Adjetey was the second Speaker of Ghana's fourth Republic Parliament. He inherited the position from Justice D.F. Annan. He is renowned as one of Ghana's legislative leaders in terms of professionalism and high standards. Before becoming Speaker of the House, he was the leader of the NPP. He passed away in July of 2008.

In her book, Yvonne Nelson reveals that it took her nearly five years after speaking with her mother to begin searching for her father.

She revealed that her first action in determining whether the esteemed late former Speaker of Parliament was her biological father was to obtain the phone number of Peter Ala Adjetey's eldest child, Gabby Adjetey.

She made it plain from the beginning, according to Nelson, that she did not want anything from the respected NPP politician and only wanted to know who her biological father was.

Her desire to dispel her doubts compelled her to undergo a DNA test. The test demonstrated that she was not the offspring of Peter Ala Adjetey.

Further, Yvonne Nelson disclosed that the disappointing result of the DNA test had hampered her relationship with her mother.
