Akua Donkor Slams Assin North Residents For Voting Against NPP

Akua Donkor, founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), is disappointed that the residents of Assin North voted against the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the recent bye-election.

She criticized the voters for electing James Gyakye Quayson, the candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), and accused them of being disloyal for all the improvements brought to the region by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Akua Donkor stated in an interview, "They (the Assin North Constituents) have committed a grave error by not voting for the NPP. You cannot challenge a powerful government because it has the financial resources to do so. It says that it would bring you growth, but you say you do not want it. You have caused damage to yourself and future generations."

She expressed her annoyance at the electors' stated reason for their decision, stating, "What irritates me the most is the reason they provided. They claimed that the NPP candidate was not a registered voter and would not vote for himself, so why should they vote for him?

Akua Donkor further accused the residents of ungratefulness, stating, "You (the residents of Assin North) are not grateful for the roads that the government has built for you.

The government has commissioned additional contractors to construct additional roads for you, but you have spurned them due to your wickedness."

The leader of the GFP also expressed concern regarding the selection of a candidate who is presently under investigation by the government.

"It's unfortunate that the people of Assin North voted for someone who is currently being prosecuted by the government," she continued.

Akua Donkor confirmed that her political party, the Ghana Freedom Party, is still active and that she intends to file her nomination to run in the 2024 elections despite the loss in the byelection.

She asserted, "I am determined to continue my political career and will file my nomination to run in the 2024 elections."
