Concerning British members of parliament are the recently enacted law in Uganda regarding the LGBTQI phenomenon and the measure currently before the Ghanaian parliament on the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values.

"Threats are inappropriate.

Once a group reaches consensus on what constitutes Human rights, values, and principles, he explained, they proceed on.

The Ghanaian parliament then follows the processes and procedures detailed in its Standing Orders and in accordance with the provisions of Ghana's constitution in order to pass the bill.

"There is nothing wrong with the Ghanaian Parliament's efforts to legislate on the promotion of human sexual rights and family values in Ghana, using our constitution as a guide," he stated.

Parliament is aware of the Constitution's extensive protections for human rights.

Parliament is aware that "any legislation that diminishes the human rights and liberties guaranteed by our constitution will be challenged in court."

In response to a query about the President's role in the referenced bill, the Speaker insisted that Ghana's legislature has the authority and capacity to legislate on the subject and will not tolerate executive interference.

He stated, "Ghana's democracy is based on the rule of law, not the rule of man."

Moreover, he stated that Ghana's constitution places a strong emphasis on the promotion and protection of various fundamental human rights and freedoms, and he gave his assurance that limiting human rights is not the purpose of the bill in question; rather, it is about the protection of rights and values, as well as the healthcare and welfare of Ghanaians, particularly those whose sexual orientation has health implications.

During the course of drafting the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, the legislature, according to the Speaker, engaged in extensive consultations.
