CPP Opens Nominations Presidential

The Convention People's Party (CPP) opened nominations for its flagbearer yesterday in preparation for next year's elections.In a statement issued and signed on 14 April 2023 by the party's General Secretary, Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah stated that nomination forms would be sold to prospective candidates for GH450,000."Approved fees for the flagbearer race: GH20,000.00 for nomination forms, GH200,000.00 for filing fees, and GH230,000.00 for the grassroots mobilization fund."Nominations will open on April 20, 2023, nominations will be accepted through May 11, 2023, nominees will be vetted on May 12 and 13, and the National Executive Council will convene on June 9, 2023," the document added.It also stated that the party's Presidential Delegates Congress will be held on June 10, 2023, and that its presidential candidates will be announced on June 12, 2023.It stated, "Regional Executives of the party should also address operational and structural development, which includes membership growth, recruitment, national, regional, and party structures, broadening the party's base, and congress organization, among others."The National Executives of the party have therefore requested that regional executives initiate periodic meetings, membership drives, and the recruitment of Electoral Area Coordinators on April 21, 2023.The statement also indicated that the party's parliamentary primaries will be held between October 13 and December 11, 2023, and that the party will review its constituency elections from December 12 to December 20, 2023."From February 5 to February 29, 2024, the CPP will hold regional elections to select regional officers in all sixteen regions, culminating with a National Executive Council meeting on May 10, 2024," read the statement.
