Davido: I Lost My Voice When the World Needed It Most

Davido, a Nigerian music superstar, at one point in his career lost his voice when the world required it the most.

Davido disclosed that he has struggled with the loss of his voice throughout his entire career, but that he has fully adjusted to bearing with and managing it.

Since his debut single, Da Mi Duro, the 'Feel' singer has been criticized for his hazy and husky voice, but he revealed that he had to learn how to deal with the issue and ensure that it did not impact his music.

According to him: "Because my voice is already hoarse, when it fails, it is so irritating. I enjoy expressing myself and speak frequently, so when I am unable to do so, it is frustrating. It's so inconvenient when I have a performance and my voice hasn't returned, and I'm impatient, so I'll just wheeze."

In an interview with 'Native Now by The Native' platform that was monitored by R on Friday, Davido stated that he had endured many difficult times and moments in his life, but that his new album 'Timeless' was all he needed to get his career back on track and make sense again.

Regarding the Timeless concert that took place in Lagos, he stated, "You must be extremely, extremely beloved for people to return to TBS on a dreary day. I was more concerned about delivering the production that we had worked so hard on than about people attending. We merely desired for everything to go smoothly; this was the assumption I was making. I would estimate that 70 percent of what we planned went according to plan, which is great news for Nigeria."

In a related development, Davido has been in the eye of the storm for the past three days as a result of a comment he made during an interview in which he described himself and Wizkid as pioneers of the new Afrobeat success and paved the way for Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel, Rema, and others, whom he referred to as new cats on the African music scene.

Some of his supporters were quick to defend his position and justify his claim, but his detractors and Burna Boy and Olamide's supporters refused to let what they deemed to be covert shade slide.

Some of them asserted on social media platforms that Burna Boy will remain the top African performer due to his Grammy Award. One of them advised him, "When you eventually win one, return and engage us in a discussion about who is the greatest and who paved the way for others. Keep your mouth shut and confront the music until then."
