The Ashanti Region will play host to a number of major football competitions beginning this weekend, including the 2023 MTN FA Cup final, which is scheduled to take place the following Sunday.

This information was disclosed on Wednesday in Kumasi during the opening of the MTN Ashantifest community soccer competition. The launch took place in Kumasi. The Kaase Office of the corporation served as the venue for the event.

On Sunday, Dreams FC will play King Faisal for the first time in the final of the FA Cup, but before that, the MTN Ashantifest community gala will get off. King Faisal will be Dreams FC's opponent.

The celebration will feature a football competition with 16 teams, each of which will represent a different neighborhood.

Asafo, Amakom, Bantama, South Suntreso, Abuakwa, Santasi, Ahodwo, Atonso, Ahinsan, Tech, and Ayigya are the communities that have been specifically targeted.

Aboabo, Asawasi, Oforikrom, Asokore Mampong, Krofrom, Suame, Tafo, Abrepo, Bremang, Bohyen, Mamponteng, Kronum, Magazine, and Afrancho are the remainder of the names.

Old Tafo is currently holding onto their title as champions.

MTN saw an opportunity to connect its existing and future customers in the Ashanti Region by organizing an annual celebration called Ashantifest. At the time, there was no other event that cut across macro and micro levels across all sectors within specified areas. This prompted MTN to organize the festival.

Walks, market storming, product and service activations, seminars, concerts, and football matches for either the communities or MTN FA Cup match when it's within the Ashantifest time, media engagements, and CSR activities are some of the events that are held during the Ashantifest.

MTN Ghana's Assistant General Manager of the Northern Business District, Charles Osei Akoto, was overjoyed by the amount of interest shown in the competition.

He said that the COVID-19 epidemic had a devastating effect on society; but, now that the pandemic has been declared over, the much-loved Ashantifest is once again taking place.

"As you are all aware, Ashantifest is our annual regional festival that was founded by MTN with the intention of bringing the brand closer to the people of Asanteman and expressing our gratitude to you, our most treasured consumers. At MTN, we are firm believers that everyone should have access to the advantages that come with living a contemporary, connected life. "Even as we rejoice in the revival of Ashantifest, we pledge to do everything in our power to make the lives of our patrons a great deal more enjoyable," he declared.

Each of the competing teams will get 3,000 ghc to use for preparation, and the awards for the top three teams will be as follows: first place will receive 20,000 ghc, second place will receive 10,000 ghc, and third place will receive 5,000 ghc.
