Quincy Promes, a forward for Spartak Moscow, is being investigated for allegedly participating in narcotics trafficking.
Promes, 31, is charged with attempting to smuggle 1,362kg of cocaine into Belgium or the Netherlands, according to Dutch authorities.
According to the Dutch newspaper Het Parool, a hearing on the matter is planned for Monday.
The former international for the Netherlands was previously accused with attempted homicide and violence in 2021.
Promes was charged with critically wounding a relative's knee in a stabbing assault at a family gathering in July 2020. Promes also played for Sevilla and Ajax and earned 50 appearances for his nation.
A hearing in this matter is also planned on Monday. He has refuted these accusations.
