The Shama District Security Council (DISEC) and the Minerals Commission detected Ammonium compounds and some explosives in the trenches of the Anto Aboso quarry enclave.
The areas where the drugs and explosives were discovered are home to around six quarry sites, raising concerns about the safety of both workers and residents in the District.
The Minerals Commission stated that such hazardous compounds could only be kept by enterprises with a permit.
According to Francis Annobil Jnr, Assistant Manager at the Minerals Commission, the compounds could only be maintained in a specified area called Magazine.
