According to a well-known economist named Kwame Pianim, the failure of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to file charges against former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng after his arrest has left room for speculation regarding what he might have done wrong.

After receiving an invitation from the Office many weeks ago, the famous cardiac surgeon is now the subject of an investigation because of the offer.

His report on the now-defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) was the impetus for his invitation to the meeting, which was held to discuss corruption and actions related to corruption.

Additionally, he was detained on suspicion of complicity in the disappearance of around 500 excavators as well as in the involvement of Symphony Limited, the business that is held by his son, in illegal mining.

Immediately after his arrest, a bail of two million Ghana cedis was set for him.

On Wednesday, June 7, he stated that he has not been charged by the Oregon State Police to Alfred Ocansey from TV3.

In response to this new information, Mr. Kwame Pianim was quoted as telling TV3's Paa Kwasi Asare, "If Professor Frimpong-Boateng is in any way connected to galamsey or promotes galamsey or stops it from being eradicated, I will be the first person to take him to the Police."

"What I am saying is that people are presumed innocent until they are proven guilty during the investigation, and anybody of his prominence anyplace in the world would have been granted self-recognition if they had been found guilty.

"I don't know the information that the Special Prosecutor has that he might run away outside the country and because of that, he needs to be prevented, he could have taken his passport," she said. "I don't know the information that the Special Prosecutor has that he might run away outside the country."

"We ought to be aware of the charges. Do you want us to infer that he is a member of a criminal gang that is spreading galamsey, or is he tied to defamation, or is he related to the leaking of the report that he submitted to the president at the request of the president?"
