In Asokwa, Kumasi, approximately five automobiles and auto repair businesses were destroyed.

Wednesday, May 31, 2023, around 9 p.m., according to eyewitnesses, the fire broke out.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rushed to the scene, but little or nothing was saved from the blaze.

73-year-olf Afua Ahohwe, one of the affected shop owners, described her ordeal as follows: "I only learned of the incidence this morning because the fitters didn't want to inform me what happened because of my age at the time it occurred.

"Sometimes I ignite mosquito coils in the store, but yesterday I didn't, so I'm unsure what started the fire. I sell motor oil, lubricants, spanner wrenches, and other auto parts, and the total value is approximately one million Ghana cedis, but I was unable to salvage anything from my store.

Benjamin Baah, a casualty of the incident, lamented, "I'm working on two vehicles for my clients, and they've all been burned. I could not even select a single ornament from my own shop. The proprietors of the automobiles and others whose works are with me have arrived at the site, but they have not yet spoken. I am traumatized and require government assistance".However, the cause of the fire is currently unknown, and investigations have been initiated by GNFS personnel.
