Brand Communications Expert Dr. Ike Tandoh has stated that Ghanaians have yet to fully accept books that disclose secrets and intimate details of people's lives, such as Yvonne Nelson's recently released autobiography, I Am Not Yvonne Nelson.

He clarified that Ghanaian culture has not yet accepted such frank writings, which explains the book's shock and controversy.

Dr. Tandoh stated on TV 3's Newday that Yvonne Nelson may have ruffled some feathers with the emotive nature of her book, despite not intending to malign anyone.

"Communication is culture as well. Our culture has not evolved to tolerate this type of book writing. It is not part of the culture of Ghana. This is why this element of surprise exists...I do not believe she wrote the book with a detrimental intent," he said.

I Am Not Yvonne Nelson by Yvonne Nelson has prompted a discussion about what is and is not appropriate to reveal in books. Her revelation that she became pregnant in 2010 for rapper Sarkodie but had to terminate the pregnancy due to Sarkodie's apparent unwillingness to accept responsibility for it has set social media ablaze, especially after Sarkodie responded in a song that she was promiscuous and that he couldn't even be sure the pregnancy was his.

The book is predominantly about Yvonne Nelson's futile efforts to discover who his father is. It also discusses her career as an actress and film director, as well as her personal life.
