Government given 2-week ultimatum to bring contractors back to fix Bodi-Ahibenso road

Chiefs and Residents of Sehwi Ahibenso in the Bodi District have given the government a two-week deadline to send back the contractors working on the road from Bodi to Ahibenso in order to complete the project.

The section in the Western North Region is in a deplorable state, making commuter travel extremely difficult.

The road has not been repaved in the past eight years, making the stretch muddy, full of craters, and dotted with puddles of water.

Some community members expressed their grievances to Adom News.

The Twafohene of Sehwi Ahibenso, Nana Kwaku Ngisenah, addressed their concerns by stating that the road has become challenging for drivers and travelers.

He indicated that the previous and current governments, as well as their Member of Parliament Sampson Ahi and District Chief Executive (DCE) Ignatius Akwasi Amankwa, have neglected to construct their road.

President Akufo-Addo had promised prior to the 2020 election that the 20-kilometer road would be awarded to three contractors, but nothing had been done.

Nana Kwaku Ngisenah added that if the government fails to resolve their concerns, the residents of Ahibenso will stage a demonstration. If this is not done, the chiefs have also threatened to prohibit all political activity in their community.

In addition, Stephen Armah, the assemblyman for the Ahibenso electoral district, stated that he has been following up with the District Chief Executive and the Regional Minister, but nothing has been done.
