Haruna Iddrisu, a member of parliament for Tamale South, is dissatisfied that the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale has turned its bathroom stalls into dormitories for its students.
Over the weekend, videos of school students sleeping in restroom stalls went viral, outraging the public.
As a result, the Ghana Education Service (GES) charged the school's headmaster, Doughlas Haruna Yakubu, who disputed the allegations and called them malicious and intentional misrepresentations of the truth.
"A viral video that claims to be coming from the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO), Tamale, in the Tamale South Constituency, has caught my notice.
According to the narration in the aforementioned film, sleeping quarters for School kids have allegedly been transformed from lavatory cubicles.
In order to reassure parents and the public about the safety and wellbeing of pupils at the School, I endorse the Ghana Education Service's (GES) decision to launch an independent investigation into the incident.
As the representative for the Tamale South Constituency, I will visit the school to see for myself.
