I do not qualify to advice the Finance Minister – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who is running for the position of NPP flagbearer and is now the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has stated that he is not qualified to advise Ken Ofori-Atta, who is the Minister of Finance.

The outspoken member of parliament claims that despite his 35 years of experience in Ghana's Parliament, Finance Minister Assin, who only believes in theories, disregards his advice on the economy because of the fact that he attended a public school in his home area. This is due to the fact that Assin was born and raised in the countryside.

Who am I, Assin Middle School, to provide my counsel to the Minister of Finance? That is why I am running for president this time around: to show them that they are wrong. That everything they've been telling up until now is just a theory. In an exclusive interview on the 16th of August 2023 with Roland Walker, anchor of TV3's NewDay, Mr. Agyapong remarked, "I want to use pragmatic approach to change the fortunes of this country."

In addition to this, he stated that his viewpoints are not taken seriously because he does not have as much money as other people. Mr. Agyapong claims that he has offered his counsel to the current government on a variety of subjects; nevertheless, the ministers and individuals in charge of the situation have consistently disregarded his input.

"Wo sika sua, wasem sua," the response was. According to a proverb that originates from the Akan culture, "if you don't have money, whatever you say will not be taken into account." You can offer advice, but it is ultimately up to the other person to decide whether or not to follow it.

The candidate for the position of NPP presidential candidate continued by saying, "I have not really advised the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, but I have served on several committees." In particular, during the time that I served on the Agricultural Committee of Parliament, my business traveled to Holland to do an experiment with yam. There, we demonstrated that the amount of starch present in yam is comparable to that found in potatoes. Consequently, we would likewise be able to store yams for an extended period of time if we did so under particular conditions and at low temperatures.

"Thirdly, I wanted to make sure you were aware that throughout the months of June, July, and August, Ghana enjoys a bountiful harvest of fish. As a result, I urged that we create cold stores and buy freezers with around -41 degrees celsius, which is superior to the cold stores with the usual temperatures of -12, -10 degrees to keep our fishes. This is so that it satisfies international standards, and then we can export it to generate additional cash. "He shared this information.

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central stated that the authorities of the current government did not take any of these pieces of advise into consideration. As a result, he is pleading with the delegates of the New Patriotic Party to vote for him as the flagbearer of the party and, hopefully, become the president of Ghana so that he can adopt a pragmatic approach to change the fortunes of Ghana. Specifically, he wants to improve the fortunes of Ghana so that the country may become more prosperous.

Mr. Ohene Agyapong, who is now traveling around all 16 districts of Ghana in an effort to persuade delegates of the NPP to vote for him, is under the impression that he is able to alter the course of Ghana's economic future with his combination of patriotism, honesty, and discipline.

As a savvy businessman and an influential member of Parliament, he is also of the opinion that Ghana is capable of producing more jobs for its citizens.

There are currently ten individuals vying for the role of flagbearer in the New Patriotic Party, and Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is one of those individuals.

A Super Delegates Conference has been organized for the 26th of August by the party in order to choose five of the ten candidates who are seeking to lead the party into the general elections of 2024.
