I nearly quit acting – Fella Makafui speaks on the difficulty of balancing her career with family and business

Ghanaian actress Fella Makafui has said that she came close to giving up acting three years ago because it was so challenging to juggle her work with her obligations to her family, her company, and other obligations.

The 27-year-old Fella Makafui, who has been in a number of well-known Ghanaian films and television shows, including the YOLO Tv Series, admitted that she was on the edge of quitting up because of the long hours needed on set only to concentrate on her profession.

She admitted, "I think that it is one of the most difficult aspects of this job, and at one point, about three years ago, I almost gave up on acting because I couldn't balance it."

The actress, who also works as a brand ambassador, serial entrepreneur, and other titles, said that all of her other businesses were doing well.

“For the fact that I have to be on set, close as late as 11, 12, I’m like nah I don’t think this will really work and I was so much into my business because it was really picking up and making money so I was like okay if this one is giving me money let me focus on this one,” she said.

However, Makafui’s husband, Medikal with whom she shares a daughter convinced her to give acting another chance.

“But ever since I got back it’s been okay. It was my husband who convinced me to get back,” said the award-winning actress “He said you should not give up on this and he is very understanding. We have a chef, we have a cleaner, we have people who helping us, we are managing because this is the life I chose to live.”

Makafui said that since returning to acting, things have been going well for her. According to her she is still learning to balance her acting career with her business and has found ways to make it work.

Fella Makafui is currently on a media tour promoting her self-produced media tour which premieres on May, 26th, 2023 at the Silverbird Cinemas.
