John Mahama To Address Ghanaian This Week On The State Of The Economy

Mon, 24 Oct 2022 Source: Nana Kay News

Ghana is currently at crossroads and many are wondering where redemption will come from. The world has been plagued with economic crises and Ghana hasn’t been spared from this. Despite the situation across the globe, many feel the repercussions of Covid-19 and Ukraine Russian war could have been lesser had the Akufo-Addo government not mismanaged the economy.

The government on their part have insisted that the exogenous factors are the causes of Ghana’s economic crises. They have even gone ahead to blame the erstwhile John Mahama government for leaving behind a tattered economy. Well, many have been calling on President Akufo-Addo to address the nation on the cedi depreciation and high cost of living. Yet this hasn’t happened with the president rather taking a tour across the country.

John Mahama, a former president is set to address the country this week. The address seeks to address concerns about Ghana’s economy and the unprecedented hardships that Ghanaians are going through. This information was revealed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, an aide to the John Mahama and former Deputy Communications Minister under the last NDC government.

The address is set to take place on Thursday, 27th October, 2022 at 7pm. It will be interesting to hear what the former president has to say. The former president has been criticized for doing worse to the economy during his time. In fact, the critics of the NDC argue that the party also took Ghana to the International Monetary Fund and as such have no right to criticize the incumbent President.

Some also say that John Mahama has on several platforms refused to give solutions to solve Ghana’s economic woes but rather worsening the plight of Ghanaians. Is it the case that John Mahama is this time going to give solutions to turn the economy around or he is just taking advantage of the situation to propel himself to glory in 2024?
