Kotoko beat Lions as King Faisal on brink of relegation

With a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Accra Lions on Saturday evening, Asante Kotoko enhanced their chances of finishing in the top four of the league standings.

Kotoko did a good job of responding by winning over Lions on their own turf after drawing their previous home game against Karela United. As a result of this outcome, Kotoko's dreams of successfully defending their Ghana Premier League crown were completely dashed. They are now in fourth place with one game still to play.

Solomon Safo-Taylor scored the game-winning goal for the Porcupine Warriors in the 21st minute of play, and the Porcupine Warriors were able to hang on for their 13th victory of the season.

A victory over Great Olympics earlier in the day in Dawu gave Dreams FC virtually all of the points they needed to ensure their survival. Dreams emerged triumphant with a scoreline of 2-1 in a difficult matchup against an opponent that was also attempting to avoid relegation. The second half of the match was filled with drama.

With this victory, Dreams moved up to sixth place, a comfortable six points above the zone indicating safety from relegation. In the meantime, Great Olympics are in a precarious position, since they are currently only one point above of the team that is currently in the worst relegation spot, despite having played one more game than that squad.

Although King Faisal won their home match against Legon Cities by a score of 3-1, it is possible that this will not be enough to save them from being demoted. They are going to need a lot of help from the other teams in the league if they want to keep their spot in the league going into the last weekend of the season.

There is only one game left for King Faisal, and they are now in second place in the cellar. They are also three points under the cutoff for safety.
