Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a candidate for the position of flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will receive an invitation to attend an event from the NPP Elections Committee.

This is in response to concerns he voiced after the Super Delegates' Conference on the previous Saturday.

The previous Minister of Trade and Industry came in third place with 95 votes but was dissatisfied with the way things turned out, particularly with an alleged attack on his polling agent in the North East Region, which was won by competitor Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received all of the votes. He received 95 votes.

After the voting was complete, he made the following statement: "This is an indelible blot to the integrity of the internal democratic process within the NPP."

"I would like to wish my colleague a speedy recovery and God's manifold blessings, and I would also like to assure him and his family of my unwavering support for him and his family's wellbeing."

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Spokesperson of the Elections Committee and the Deputy Majority Leader, addressed the media on Monday, August 29, and stated that Mr. Kyerematen will be invited for a "one-on-one engagement."

He made the point that "we have become aware that one of the aspirants raised certain issues," which is what he said.

"In addition to the main meeting with all of the aspirants, that aspirant is also going to be invited for a one-on-one engagement to listen to him in respect to the specific issues that he raised," said the speaker. "This aspirant is going to be invited for a one-on-one engagement."

He stated that this decision was made in order to maintain harmony within the party.

According to Mr. Afenyo-Markin, prior to this particular meeting with Mr. Kyerematen on Tuesday, August 29, all ten of the aspirants would be engaged to hear from them in order to gather their feedback.

"We have taken it upon ourselves that based on what we have heard [and] seen in the social media, we are inviting specific people to appear before us for engagement. We are doing this because we have taken it upon ourselves to do so. We are eager to listen to them.

"We have heard of certain allegations from the media; however, from Saturday until this hour, no formal complaint has been received; however, for the sake of the well being of the party and for the sake of the unity of the party, we have taken it upon ourselves to investigate."
