Today, Friday, June 16, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to file his nomination forms alongside party leaders.

Former National Vice Chairman Fred Oware and former National Organiser Sammy Awuku picked up the forms on his behalf and are anticipated to be at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters in Accra around 11:00am to submit them.

Prior to that, some supporters with GH50,000 in cash had gone to the party's headquarters to collect up the forms for him.

Dr. Bawumia is regarded as one of the leading candidates in the upcoming primaries.

Former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who was the first candidate to submit his nomination papers, will be his chief rival.

Following the opening of nominations on Friday, May 26th, ten candidates, including the outspoken politician Ken Ohene Agyapong, have submitted forms.

The deadline for nominations is Saturday, June 24, prior to the start of vetting on Monday, July 3.

The party has scheduled a National Congress by the Special Electoral College for Saturday, August 26 if more than five candidates qualify for the primaries.

On Saturday, November 4, following any Special Electoral College, the congress to elect the 2024 presidential candidate will convene.
