The Kyebi Divisional Police Command has received nine land guards that the Okyeman Lands Protection Taskforce had detained at Teacher Mante.
The property Guards allegedly took over a developer's property at Teacher Mante in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, according to the Taskforce commanded by Okyenhene Akwanserahene, Baffour Asiedu Bekoe.
On Tuesday, May 30, gunfire was exchanged. Afterward, several of the land guards ran, but nine were detained.
According to Baffour Asiedu Bekoe, the Okyenhene Akwansera chief, the 80-acre parcel of property in issue was officially transferred from the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin to Rockstars Company, a manufacturer of aluminum bowls.
"Rockstars Company Limited already received the land. I find it surprising that these land guards are there on the property at Fred's request. This is incorrect.
The Kyebi Police Command has started looking into the situation.
Land ownership disputes have sometimes arisen under the control of the Abuakwa Traditional Council.
