Nobody in Ghana Uses His Own Money for Politics – NPP Presidential Candidate

Nana Odeneho Oppong, a potential presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), addressed rumors that he is not financially qualified to run for such a high office.

According to him, the message of a presidential candidate is what influences delegates and electors, not money.

"In this country, nobody has money and nobody employs his own money to engage in politics. Your message will convince others to support you. Politics is not all about money, or else many wealthy individuals could be presidents, he said on Peace FM in Accra.

The former transport officer of Jubilee House disclosed that, if elected president, party communicators and council of elders will receive a 10% salary reduction.

"Some individuals have served NPP for decades. For example, the communications team spreads the word about the administration's accomplishments without receiving compensation. "If elected as flagbearer and president, I will reduce the salaries of government appointees by 10 percent to pay the party's communicators and council of elders," he promised.

Mr. Oppong has joined ten others in vying for the party's presidential nomination prior to the general election of 2024.

The NPP's presidential primary is scheduled for November 4, 2023, following evaluation of potential candidates from July 3 to 6, 2023.
