Politicians Who Make Extravagant Promises Should Be Avoided - Mahama

Tue, 18 Apr 2023 Source: Island Reporters

The presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. John Dramani Mahama, has cautioned voters to be weary of politicians who make extravagant promises during campaigns because they won't keep them.

He claimed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made extravagant and overly ambitious promises during the 2016 elections, including one district, one plant, one village, one dam, and one constituency, one million dollars.

Even the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), which was supposed to be common, was not forthcoming, according to Mr. Mahama, who made these remarks at Kadjebi in the Oti Region during his campaign tour. He added that there was no need to make empty promises and instead to carry them out.

He claimed that the current administration had failed in all areas, including providing Ghanaians with good roads, hospitals, markets, and financial services.

In order to continue the good efforts that had already begun, Mr. Mahama urged with the branch and constituency executives to vigorously campaign for the NDC to retake power in 2024. He claimed that the NDC ran in the 2020 elections but did not win for reasons that only God knows.

He committed to providing the logistical support required for the 2024 campaign, all of which would be delivered to the branches for use by the executives.

The NDC presidential candidate was accompanied by Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, the chairman of the Oti Regional NDC, Professor Joshua Alabi, a former NDC appointee, and other regional executives.
