The nomination of Supreme Court Justice Gertrude Araba Torkonoo as Chief Justice has been referred to the appointments committee of Parliament by President Akufo-Addo.
The President proposed Justice Gertrude Araba Torkonoo as the new Chief Justice to replace Justice Anin Yeboah, who is retiring this month, in a letter to the Council of State last week.
First Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu, after reading the president's message to the house, urged the appointments committee he heads to expedite the vetting of the new chief justice so as not to create a vacancy.
