Shatta Wale, Bullgod opt for out-of-court settlement

The award-winning Dancehall musician Shatta Wale and his erstwhile manager, Bulldog, now Bullgod, have reached an out-of-court settlement.

Since November, when the artiste manager, born Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, sued the musician for defamation in an Accra High Court, the two have been embroiled in a legal dispute.

He sought, among other things, an order from the court directing Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, to publish on seven consecutive days an unqualified retraction and unreserved apology for the defamatory words he published on all of his social media pages about the Plaintiff.

Such retractions and apologies would have been reviewed and authorized by the Plaintiff's attorneys.

However, the plaintiff's attorneys requested an out-of-court settlement, which Justice Joseph Adu Agyemang Owusu approved in March.

On Tuesday, June 27, the case was dismissed so that the parties could resolve the dispute amicably outside of court.

"We came seeking only an apology and retraction.

Therefore, we should be moderate and honest in our assessments."

Prior to the court's decision, it was believed that the two had reconciled based on public comments citing each other's prior contributions to their respective professions.

Bulldog admitted in an interview with Connect FM earlier this month that he enjoys working with Shatt Wale, despite wanting to resign after six months.
