TV3’s Christopher Amoako bags two awards at 3rd Northern Region GJA Awards

Christopher Amoako, a correspondent for Media General who covers the Northern, Savannah, and North East Regions, was awarded two prizes at the third annual Northern Region Ghana Journalists' Association (GJA) awards.

In order to further the Sustainable Development Goals, he was awarded the titles of Best Education Reporter and Best Reporter in Development Journalism.

During his remarks at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Northern Region GJA, Yakubu Majeed, encouraged journalists in the Region to make use of their platforms to promote the Region's potential for growth.

"We have a big task of projecting our regions which are deprived in terms of development in order to influence development to lessen the hardships and poverty levels of our people," he added. "We have a big task of projecting our regions which are deprived in terms of development."

"As journalists, let's not waver in our dedication to the work at hand and let our ethics and principles direct us."

Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the national president of the GJA, issued a warning to political parties, urging them to refrain from abusing journalists in the course of their duties.

He spoke out against the recent assault that took place at an NDC vetting on a reporter from Citi FM/TV.

The Golden Quill Awards are given out on a yearly basis to recognise and honour journalists who have excelled in their respective fields.

A number of other journalists also walked away with awards at the end of the night.

Eric Kombat of the Daily Guide, Abdul Wahab Yumzaa of Zaa TV, and Mohammed Fugu of the Daily Graphic were a few of the individuals who participated.

Mohammed Fugu was chosen as the best journalist in the industry as a whole for the year.

Prince Kwame Tamakloe was awarded the title of Best Agricultural Reporter.

A number of northern radio stations have gained recognition for the significant roles they've played in the region's growth and development thanks to the platforms provided by their stations.

Pad FM was recognised as the Best Radio Station in the Savanna Region, while Diamond FM, a local radio station in Tamale, was chosen as the Best Radio Station in the Northern Region.

The award for "Best Radio Station in the Region" was given to Lom FM, a community radio station that broadcasts from Bunpkurugu in the North-East Region of the country.

The "Straight Forward show" on Sankara Radio was also chosen as the "Best Current Affairs Programme" in the Eastern corridor of Dagbon.
