As the 29th of May, 2023 swearing-in ceremony approaches, the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has recounted his ordeal in vying for the presidency since the country's democratic dispensation, noting that they laughed at him all three times he ended up in the supreme court after losing the presidential election.

According to the Nigerian Tribune newspaper, the president stated that he never gave up when he was paid homage by residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) headed by Minister Mohammed Bello on Friday at the presidential villa. In response, he told them that 'God dey'.

Muhammadu Buhari, who revealed that he told them there was a God after losing three times at the supreme court in 2003, 2007, and 2011, added that God finally rescued him with the provision of permanent voters card, PVC, and he was subsequently declared the winner of the 2015 presidential election.

In his words: "I dared the legislators and ended up appearing three times before the Supreme Court. They chuckled at me, and I responded, 'God dey.' With my Permanent Voter Card (PVC), technology came to my rescue.
