W/R: Aiyinase to get 20-bed mini-hospital following sod-cutting

Kwasi Bonzo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ellembelle in the Western Region, is excited about how a new 20-bed capacity mini-hospital he helped lay the groundwork for at Aiyinase would contribute significantly to the district's vital health needs, particularly maternal health.

He describes how pregnant women from miles away have been directed to the Eikwe Hospital for blood transfusions and caesarean sections (CS), as well as the associated worries that come with such needless referrals.

"As a DCE and a father, I am deeply concerned when I hear that a number of pregnant women will have to travel all the way to Eikwe for blood transfusions and caesarean sections." And you know how risky it is to move pregnant women about in their late stages of pregnancy. So you can imagine how thrilled I am that we are laying the groundwork for this new hospital."

He is also pleased that the new mini-hospital is being built in a strategic position that will allow thousands of people quick access.

"In terms of population and commercial activity, the Aiyinase Community is the largest in the Ellembelle district." As a result, the public will gain greatly from this facility."

The Ghana National Gas Company and Quantum Gas, both of which have activities in Ellembele, are offering financial assistance for the development of the 20-bed hospital.

The health center will cost $2,860,000 and will be completed in 12 months.

It will include an out-patient and in-patient unit, a diagnostic unit, a maternity unit, a nursing mother's shelter, an administration building, a service yard, staff housing, a canteen, and a security station.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, the two enterprises are extending the gesture to the district.

"We're returning the favor to one of the communities that has hosted us over the years." "This is our profound way of expressing gratitude for the cordial relationship we continue to enjoy," said Samuel Bonuedie, Head of Brands and Communications at Quantum Group Limited.

Stephen Nanyina, a Board Member of Ghana Gas, noted that the existing situation of the Aiyinasi health center left much to be desired.

"As responsible corporate citizens, we felt it was only fair to intervene."

"Of the total amount, $2,112,577 will be used for construction, while $757, 458 will be used to purchase medical equipment for the facility." We want the hospital to have all it needs."

Dr. Augustine Amoako, Ellembelle District Health Director, expressed optimism that when completed, the facility will alleviate the overwhelming demand on the Eikwe Hospital, as well as for him, particularly in the area of maternal health.
