We Empower Akufo-Addo To Ignore The Constitution Because Of Martin Amidu's Three New EC Appointments

Tue, 18 Apr 2023 Source: Island Reporters

Nobody should anticipate the new EC appointees to quit because Ken Ofori-Atta has stood his ground and refused to do so at his cousin Nana Addo's request.

Ghanaians were told about Nana Akufo-Addo's long-term strategy for the 2024 elections before Nigeria breached the eight-year rule for the duration of the two major political parties, but we disregarded the warning.

We approved such selections despite their potential negative effects on an impartial electoral process, particularly the 2024 elections, when it is crucial for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that this government use every available tool to ensure that it assumes power on January 7, 2025.

I am especially surprised by the criticisms leveled at Nana Akufo-Addo for doing what he knows best without anyone pointing a finger in the past: appointing members of his political party's supporters to the Electoral Commission that he liked and standing by his decisions despite Ghanaians' objections.

To keep his party in power, Nana Akufo-Addo is emulating African autocrats like Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Laurent-Desire Kabila, and Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Paul Biya of Cameroon, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, and Mobutu Sese Seko of the former Zaire (DRC).

As citizens, we accepted the nomination of Ministers of State despite the fact that we knew they would ruin our economy and worsen our living conditions.

There are numerous, illustrious cases of Nana Addo abusing his position of authority and getting away with it on open source.

My piece, "New Leadership Appointments to the National Security Apparatus and Akufo-Addo's Long Game to Breaking the Eight," served as a warning and a reminder that if we as citizens are unable to protect the 1992 Constitution, the very Government we chose may decide to do so.

See, for instance, Martin Amidu's article, "Akufo-Addo's Long Game Of Breaking The Eight Hatched," from newsghana24.com.

I sincerely hope that the Ghanaians who had doubts about my assertion that Akufo-Addo was using a long game to shatter the eight have carefully considered what Mr.

Additionally, Bryan Acheampong cannot be investigated for high treason or suspected treason by any law enforcement agency while Nana Akufo-Addo is in power, despite the fact that everyone is aware that others are facing charges for treason and other related offenses based solely on social media posts.

Part of Nana Akufo-Addo's long-term plan to split the eight undemocratically at the 2024 elections has been exposed by Bryan Acheampong.
