What You Should Do If Water Has Damaged Your Phone

Sat, 22 Apr 2023 Source: Island Reporters

If your phone has been damaged by water, you must act immediately to minimize the extent of the damage. Here are some measures you can take to attempt to fix a phone that has been damaged by water:

Turn off the phone immediately The first step is to turn off the phone as quickly as feasible. Do not attempt to power it on or charge it, as doing so could cause additional damage.

2. Remove the battery (if possible): If your smartphone's battery is removable, remove it promptly. This will aid in preventing brief circuits and further phone damage.

Use a dry cloth or towel to delicately wipe away any excess moisture from the phone. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to remove water from the terminals of the phone.

Place your device in a bag of uncooked rice or silica gel sachets. This will help absorb any moisture remaining on the phone. Leave the item in the container for 24 to 48 hours.

5. Attempt to turn it on: After 24 to 48 hours, attempt to power on the phone to see if it functions. If not, you may need to send it to a professional repair shop or contact the manufacturer for further instructions.

These measures may not be effective in all instances of water damage, and there is no assurance that your device will be fully restored. If your phone is still covered by its manufacturer's warranty, contact the manufacturer for assistance.
