The Bulk Oil Storage Company has presented relief items to flood victims in Buipe in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.

The relief items included 100 bags of rice, 70 cans of cooking oil, 10,000 bags of sachet water among others.

The items was part of efforts by BOST to support victims affected by the flooding of the Black Volta River in Buipe.

General Manager of Corporate Communication and External Affairs at BOST, Mr. Marlick Adjie told journalists that as a state owned company that operates in the community, there was the need for them to step in and support the victims of the flood.

"We're founded and established by the state and we're owned by the people, so stepping in to make this donation to mitigate the plight of the people is the least we did" he said.

He disclosed plans by BOST to dig boreholes across the town to improve water supply in the town.

"We wish to assure the people that this is not going to be the last in the series, we appreciate the challenge that their sources of drinking water is heavily polluted by the over scale of the waters. We're taking steps to even get them boreholes to ensure that diseases don't visit them even as they suffer being moved from their homes and going through all the difficulties at this point in time" he noted.

The items were received by the Central Gonja District Chief Executive, Mr. Iddrisu Salia Kamara, and a delegation led by Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, with support from the District NADMO Coordinator.

Many of the victims who are now sheltering with relatives on higher grounds told the media they have lost everything and thus, needed more support from benevolent individuals and institutions.
