Church of Pentecost Contributes Offertory to Supports a Member to Win an Award

A 20 year old student of Akropong Presbyterian College of Education and also a member of the Church of Pentecost Koforidua-Ada Assembly in the Eastern region, Dennis Aboagye has been adjudged as the overall winner of the maiden edition of the Teacher Trainee Association of Ghana Eastern and Greater Accra Sector (TTAG-EGA) Excellence Awards 2022.




Dennis Aboagye the poet who is a single parent mother's son was nominated among four other students in December ,2022 as student writer of the year Eastern and Greater Accra Sector.

Following his nominations the Presiding Elder of the Church of Pentecost Koforidua-Ada Assembly, Elder Michael Kofi Asinor took upon himself together with the congregation to contribute an offering every Sunday to support him in the voting process before the said date for the awards ceremony which was held in Accra College of Education on the 4th February, 2023.

As a result of the effort by the Church and support from other individuals , Dennis Aboagye emerged as the poetic writer of the year and the overall winner of the 2022 Teacher Trainee Association of Ghana Eastern and Greater Accra Sector (TTAG-EGA) Excellence Awards.

The award winner then received a plaque , cash price, 32 inch LED television, reading books and a citation from the event organizers while some nominees in fifteen other categories who won received their awards respectively.

Celebrating the young writer award winner Dennis Aboagye in the Church of Pentecost Koforidua-Ada Assembly, the Presiding Elder Michael Kofi Asinor entreated the youth to devote their time in serving God by actively participating in all church activities.


Presiding Elder Michael Kofi Asinor said "we thank God our brother was Adjudged as the overall winner , I believe that it is through the effort of the church and all of us here , we the youths should take advantage of the church and participate in all activities by the church in so doing you will be recognized and if the need arise for the church to help you then it will be done as such, recently Messi won the world cup with Agentina don't you think you will be more happier if Messi is a member of our church , so the reason why we need to support those who excel and must be supported".

Meanwhile, the award winner Dennis Aboagye was overwhelmed by the support he got from the church , he therefore thanked the church and all others who supported him to win the award.

He said , "I develop interest in poetic writing at a younger age after I lost my Dad, I was so sad and didn't know what to do so I decided to put my feelings into writing , already I like reading books a lot therefore I decided to express myself and tell people how I feel and how I perceive the world through poems , I am excited today , event though it reminds me of my father's departure , I also believe that through this God will bless me and show me the path".
