Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa North in the Eastern of Ghana, has today 19th December, 2022, presented two hundred pieces of LED street light bulbs and four hundred and eighty (480) gas stoves to all the twenty-four (24) elected Assembly Members and Government Appointees in the Municipality.




According Municipal Chief Executive, the source of the items is the Ministry of Energy.

Speaking to Nana Kwasi Asare, Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga said, each Assembly Member and Government Appointee is entitled to ten (10) and five (5) pieces of the LED street light bulbs respectively with (20) gas stoves across board.

He added that, the LED street light bulbs presented to the Assembly Members and the Government Appointees, is aimed at improving visibility in the Municipality to combating crime at this year's yuletide and beyond, a situation he terms "Abuakwa North Shines Against Crime”.

The Municipal Chief Executive, continued that, the police command and other second cycle institutions, both public and private will also take delivery of the LED street light bulbs.

Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga emphasizing on the LPG stoves said, the Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party's administration is committed to the fight against deforestation hence, the introduction of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) usage and sensitization.

"The Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, is one of the three Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in the Eastern Region that has benefited from the pilot project of these gas stoves initiative. The Nana Akufo-Addo led Government will consolidate gains made in Greening Ghana afforestation project by discouraging the usage of charcoal which depletes our forests". Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga said.

He further submitted that, the Assembly Members were directed to submit names, digital addresses and Ghana cards of twenty (20) selected beneficiaries in their Electoral Areas with eighty percent (80%) female representation.

Honorable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga continued that, two thousand (2000) pieces of the LPG stoves were given to the three MDAs for the pilot project, namely Abuakwa North, Kwaebibrem and Denkyembour.

He admonished all the Assembly Members to make sure the stoves are distributed to the right beneficiaries as captured in the data.

Honourable Emmanuel Asare Gyekye, Abuakwa North Presiding Member, who received the items on behalf of the Assembly Members, eulogized the New Patriotic Party Government and the Municipal Chief Executive for their unflinching support and hard work towards the socio-economic development of the Municipality and Ghana as a whole and added that, the items will be put to good use to serve the purpose of which they were presented.

Also present at the short presentation ceremony were 𝐌𝐫 John Ankrah, Abuakwa North Municipal Coordinating Director, some staff of the Assembly, Some Assembly Members and the Press.
