Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana and Deputy Minister of Education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has today 23rd January, 2023 toured Kindergartens in the Constituency to welcome the fresh pupils into the educational system and present to them learning materials.




The hardworking legislator explained that, she embarked on the nationally acclaimed "My First Day At School" a week later after public basic schools resumed in order to meet more new entrants.

"I have been visiting schools previous years during the first day of reopening and realised that, just some few newly enrolled pupils report. This year, I decided to embark on this exercise a week later after reopening and saw that, majority of the pupils have reported". Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo said.

Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo presented crayons, exercise books, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners and boxes of chalk to the various kindergartens she visited.

She posited that, the gesture in as much as it welcomes the pupils to school, allows them to build role models from the government officials who visited and leaves indelible mark with them as education is concerned.

Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo used the occasion to inspect ongoing GETFund projects in some of the schools namely Anyinasin Methodist, New Tafo SDA and Badia project at Tafo Zion Primary and said, she is satisfied with the progress of work so far.

To inculcate the habit of reading in the children, Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo presented library books to pupils in basic four (4) to six (6) at Akyem Ettokrom Methodist and Kukuratumi M/A Primary.


Madam Abena Gyamerah, Municipal Education Director, who was part of the tour, eulogized Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo for her powerful lobbying skills and the central government for their continues support to quality education in the Constituency which has seen tremendous infrastructural development in the enclave.

She emphasized that, pupils to teacher ratio deficit is a thing of the past in the Municipality .

Madam Abena Gyamerah further admonished all pupils to be self disciplined to be successful in life.

The schools visited were, Presby and Methodist Primary in Akyem Anyinasin, Ettokrom Methodist Primary, Old Tafo Presby Primary, New Tafo Zion Primary, New Tafo SDA, Ofori Panin Primary, Kukuratumi Islamic Primary and Kukuratumi M/A Primary.
