The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern Region of Ghana also the Deputy Minister of Education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande has at this year's yuletide, distributed food items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to her constituents.
Touring all the sixteen (16) communities for the gesture, it is estimated that, over fifty-seven thousand (57,000) people benefited from this year's donation.
According to the benevolent Member of Parliament, this is the second time such donation has been made of which she refered to December, 2021 as the first edition.
The items presented include packs of rice, cooking oil and canned fish.
She added that, it's her widow's might for her constituents for the festive occasion.
"Developmental projects are ongoing by the Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party's administration but most people argue it out that, they haven't benefited from the Government hence, my decision to reach out to all in my Constituents with this gesture. I believe they could afford much better than this but I appeal to them to accept my widow's might in good faith". Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo said.
She added that, her position must be felt as the Member of Parliament for the enclave especially, at this time of global economic crises and called on others who are more fortunate to emulate and put smiles in the faces of the less priviledged.
"In my position as the Member of Parliament for this Constituency, this current global economic torment era is the moment my people need my impact the most.
Therefore, I decided to lend a helping hand to them, let each one of us do our bit to help feed those who are hungry and offer support and comfort to those who are in affliction,” She added.
She further admonished commercial driver unions and all traders to apply the right fees in their tradings as the Ghana Cedi, is gradually appreciating against the major international trading currencies at the forex market to avoid unnecessary prize hikes in the country which is otherwise referred to as high inflation.
Speaking to some of the Constituents who received their packages, they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Member of Parliament for her continuous support to the Constituency and always intervening to their plights at the right time.
They added that, her benevolence and hard work will translate into land slide victory in the 2024 general elections.
They further prayed for God's blessings and protection for her to do more.
