E/R: Abuakwa North NCCE Embarks On Educational Visit With Pupils From OPASS JHS To Akyem New Tafo Police Station

The Abuakwa North Municipal National Commission For Civic Education (NCCE) Officials led by Mrs Beatrice Nyarkoa Budu together with some selected pupils from Ofori Panin Junior High School, Akyem Kukuratumi, have today 22nd August, 2023, embarked on an educational trip to Akyem New Tafo Police Station in the Eastern Region of Ghana.




Chief Insp Kingsford Obeng, Station Officer, took the pupils through some objectives of the service such as, maintenance of law, peace, and order, effecting arrests and prosecution of offenders, suspects and others.

He further educated the pupils on the police's standards of operations at the station and introduced them to the usage of some police books at the charge office which include, Station Diary (Reference Book), Arms and ammunition, Cells book (form 69), Diary of action taken, Extracts of occurrence, Police medical forms, Bail bonds and others, arms and ammunition recommended for police such as AK-47 an CZ and clerical duties of officers.

Chief Insp Kingsford Obeng urged all the pupils to be security conscious by reporting suspicious characters to the police for onwards actions.

He assured them of the police's unflinching efforts to ensure the peace and safety of all citizenry and ended that, the police is the public's friends hence their doors are always opened to them.

After some series of questions and answers, Detective Sargeant Robert Sakyi, delved into the differences between abduction, defilement and rape as established by law and admonished the pupils to be of good behavior as they climb their academic ladder to avoid any form of crime.


General Sargeant Addo Samuel Osafo, took the pupils on tour to various offices in the station including the cells where suspects are kept.

Mrs Beatrice Nyarkoa Budu on her part, thanked the New Tafo Police for welcoming the pupils and giving them the Education.

She posited that, article 41of the 1992 Constitution urges the duties on the individual Ghanaian citizens and states that the exercise of rights and freedoms, guaranteed in the Constitution, are inseparable from the citizen's performance of their duties hence the visit to the police whose work is mandated under article 200 of the same Constitution.

Mrs Beatrice Nyarkoa Budu said, such educational trips will be organized regularly for the pupils to abreast them with first hand knowledge.
