The incumbent Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency also the Deputy Minister of Education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande, has successfully filed her nomination forms at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Office in Akyem Kukuratumi in the Eastern Region of Ghana on Monday 25th December, 2023 to contest as a parliamentary hopeful.
She was accompanied by hundreds of party delegates.
Receiving the forms, Mr Kudjo Asare Douglas, Chairman of the Elections Committee, wished Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo well in the upcoming primary and admonished her and the followers to abide by the rules and regulations of the election process by doing clean campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks.
He further called for unity amongst all the candidates and their supporters after the primary to strengthen the party to break the eight (8) year election cycle.
Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo addressing the delegates present, thanked them for their trust, loyalty and continuous support for her which made it possible for her to serve the Constituency for two (2) terms a situation she describes as historical.
She recounted her servitude to the party amongst others, formal/informal employments, resourcing master craftmen and artisans with skill training workshops and provision of equipment, educational scholarships and building of the party's office and explained that, she used her ex-gratia for the construction to show her appreciation to the party for re-electing her in 2020 to serve for the second term.
Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo called for party unity and further urged all the delegates to rally behind her and vote for her massively on January 27, 2024, to continue the good works she is doing through the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP administration.
Honourable Abraham Narh, leader of a group called Volunteers for Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo speaking to the press extended the group's appreciation to the Member of Parliament for helping them to secure permanent jobs after a long period of joblessness.
He added that, the Member of Parliament is not selective in helping people in the Constituency.
They pledged their continuous loyalty and promised to campaign vigorously for Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo to win the primary.
"We have suffered, we became liability to our family and vicinity, life became unbearable but through the benevolence of Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo we are duly employed at various sectors, due to this development, we are going to brandish the whole Constituency with banners to support her re-election". Honourable Abraham Narh submitted.
Mr Wilson Atuahene, a polling station secretary, also urged all delegates to vote for Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo for continuous development of the Constituency.
