The importance of teachers can never be downplayed in the development of any nation says Rev Justice Kwame Asumeng, the minister in charge of Koforidua, Ascension congregation of Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

In prayer and anointing session organized for teachers in the New Juaben municipality, Rev Asumeng stated that we have many intelligent leaders today, including the President, High Court judges, lawyers, doctors and Rev ministers including himself because of strong discipline and good training imbibed in them from the hands of teachers and as such, teachers need to be honoured, appreciated, respected and rewarded.

Rev Asumeng stated further that withdrawal of strong discipline especially, 'cane' from our schools, makes teachers toothless in the maintaining of discipline and its resultant effect would be uncontrollable nation in years to come.

Rev Asumeng said people formulating policies and laws for us today, are people who are well trained and trained under strong disciplinary condition.

He said the same well trained disciplined law makers are those formulating laws and policies against strong discipline.

He said the resultant effect of their new policies and laws, would in years to come, breed high minded hooligans, robbers and the likes who would create indisciplined society and nation.

He said it is completely erroneous to say the Whites do not strongly discipline their children.

He said any White who is unable to bring his/her child under discipline is made to lose the child to a 'Home'.

Rev Asumeng stated that he has never and would not in any way, support whoever challenges a teacher for disciplining his/her child and as such, he turns away parents or guardians who stand against disciplining of their children.

Rev Asumeng wished for the teachers, better conditions of service with better salary and congratulated them for standing up to their duties despite challenges in the profession.

He finally led the teachers and prayed for wisdom, good health, protection and anointed them against all forms of principalities and powers.
